Introduction

This project is part of my internship experience with Forage by BP , where I had the opportunity to contribute to solving real-world challenges. Through user research, wireframing, and UI/UX design, I aimed to simplify the electric vehicle charging experience.

The Problem

One of the most significant challenges is to provide simple and accessible assistance for the growing use of electric vehicles (EVs), which have gained popularity as society transitions to dependable, economical, and low-carbon energy sources to achieve a net-zero future. With an increasing number of EVs available on the market, there is a clear demand for a universal mobile app that addresses a common issue for EV owners: swiftly and efficiently locating the nearest charging station. The challenges of finding charging infrastructure and determining if an EV has sufficient battery to reach a charging station are the underlying causes of this problem.

Goal

This project aims to create a user-friendly EV(electric vehicle) Charging Station Finder App that simplifies the experience of owning an EV. It allows users to effortlessly locate nearby charging stations, check their EV's battery range, and get personalized information based on their specific EV model.

Design process

Persona

Low-fidelity

Wireframes that have been simplified allow users to explore the early design ideas for our EV Charging Station Finder app. See how simple it is to locate charging stations, analyze your battery, and navigate in an eco-friendly manner.

High-fidelity prototype

The user flows have been enhanced in this edition, delivering a more user-friendly interface for quickly locating charging stations. With these updates, the app is now ready to provide EV drivers with an easy-to-use method for finding the nearest charging station.

Conclusion

The experience of developing the Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station Finder app has been meaningful. The project began by identifying the sudden need for a user-friendly solution, followed by conducting thorough research, generating creative ideas, and transforming those ideas into a high-quality prototype. Moving forward, I look forward to testing the app with users and making necessary improvements to ensure it meets the diverse needs of EV users.
